«When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford». This quotation from Samuel Johnson is probably the most appropriate way to start this post. After spending just 3 days in London, I am speechless. We had an incredible time and got to see so much.

Shortly after checking into our relatively cheap hostel «Piccadilly Backpackers», right in the heart of central London, late Thursday night, we found out why it was so cheap; the room was tiny, the bathrooms were disgusting, the crazy staff, … We assumed all of this wouldn’t really bother us, as we weren’t going to be at the hostel that long anyway.

The next morning, we headed to a pub for a traditional English breakfast to start the day, nothing made me feel more like being at home than the food in London, everything was so normal, the same things I grew up with. We then went on a very long stroll around the city, ticking off all the must-see tourist sights and some other not as popular sights. Our base was at Piccadilly Circus, so we were only a few minutes stroll away from most of the sights. We headed from Leicester Square to Covent Garden and then down to Trafalgar Square. After a stroll through the National Gallery we headed to Westminster and got the photo next to Big Ben. Quickly heading out of Westminster, away from the crowds of tourists, we arrived at Waterloo Station and got the tube to London Bridge and shortly after we came to Borough Market. After lunch at the market, we walked to Tate Modern and then across the Millennium Bridge to St. Pauls Cathedral.

Day two was all about shopping. We started off at Regent St. heading towards Oxford St. where we quickly found Primark and spent around two hours filling bags and bags of cheap clothes. Quickly dropped everything off back at the hostel and the hopped on the tube out to Camden Town. This crazy part of town, full of old school clothing and way too many Chinese takeaways was very cool. Camden Town is made up of lots of different markets that have all merged into one big crazy mess. A good mess though.

Sunday came around quicker than we all though and I had to head out to Luton just after breakfast to catch a cheap easyjet flight back to Zurich. Flying with easyjet is probably worth a whole other blog post of its own!
